Get involved! – ETB | IPAC & BIYT project about trees

ANNOUNCEMENT: BRAND NEW THEATER PROJECT

If trees could talk, what would they say?

This year English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center and the Berlin International Youth Theatre are offering a brand new theater project open to everyone!

We welcome you to participate in Thus Spoke the Trees, a project exploring the role of trees in our ecosystem and imagining what life might be like from their perspectives.

This is a fantastic FREE opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to be part of a creative process and to work with a team of professional artists, including theater makers, musicians from Exploratorium Berlin and an eco-costume designer. As part of the project, we will also meet a scientist from Humboldt University to learn more about the role of trees in our ecosystem and the current climate crisis.

The project will be split into two phases: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (February – March 2020) and REHEARSING AND PERFORMING (March – May 2020). We are currently looking for people aged 10 – 75+ to join the RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT phase, to help us create the theater piece.

This phase will take place from Tuesday, February 4 to Thursday, February 7, 2020 (11:30 am – 4:30 pm) as a 4-day intensive during the Winterferien and will continue every Wednesday evening throughout February and March.

Thus Spoke the Trees is a FREE opportunity that will give you the chance to:

·         Co-create a brand new piece of theater

·         Be part of researching the role of trees in our city and ecosystem

·         Develop your theater-making, writing and performance skills

·         Continue with the next phase of the project from late March, when we will rehearse the play to be performed on the ETB | IPAC stage in May 2020!

Whether you have prior theater experience or not – all are welcome! You can even be a non-performer at this stage. If you have a basic knowledge of English, are open-minded and committed, with the desire to create something in the spirit of collaboration, WE WANT YOU!
