GLB – Improv Comedy

GLB bring their show to the ETB | IPAC stage for a behemoth evening of improvised scenes weaved together with incomparable timing and gut-wrenching laughter.

Plus, they’re bringing some of their friends along!

Pretty much anything can happen, and it’s all made up before your very eyes by some of the best improvisers this city has to offer.

GLB is Berlin’s longest running English-language longform improv team. They perform every 1st & 3rd Friday at the Comedy Café Berlin. Formed in 2013 as Good Luck, Barbara, GLB is one of the first teams to bring North American-style longform improv to the German Hauptstadt, and has been performing continuously since then – from claustrophobic basement bars to ETB | IPAC here in Berlin, and the massive Del Close Marathon in New York City and SlapDash in London. GLB members teach improv through The CCB Training School and have trained a new generation of fantastic improvisers right here in Berlin. They are Nicole Ratjen, Josh Telson and Noah Telson.

Clever

CLEVER. The live comedy panel game show with Berlin’s funniest comedians!

Covering a wide range of games, puzzles and topics, this is Berlin’s best and only live game show. Be it astrophysics, history, geography or sports, local heroes from the lands of improv and stand-up comedy will be put to the test. Hosted by Canada’s Lee White (Crumbs), he challenges the comical combatants to prove who’s the cleverest. A correct answer will get you points… unless someone gives a funnier one. At the end of the day, being the smartest or funniest isn’t enough: in this exhilarating, interactive comedy quiz you have to be CLEVER to win!

CLEVER. The game show where the audience always wins laughs.

Featuring contestants Christoph Jungmann (Germany), Nicole Ratjen (Canada), Rene Dellefont (USA) with Amy Jane (New Zealand) in the judge’s chair!

Check out some excerpts from the last iteration of CLEVER from July 2017!

Rene Dellefont is an actor, improviser and DJ from Atlanta GA. He is the current artistic director of Highwire Comedy Co.. Berlin is one of his favorite cities in the world.

Nicole Ratjen started improv at an early age at the Canadian Improv games and never stopped. As a clown and improvisor she has toured on productions across Canada, Europe and Australia. She is one of the idiots in the Bloody Bawdy Villains and can been seen performing regularly with Goodluck, Barbara, Comedysportz and It’s that Time of the Month in Berlin and most recently she was accepted to the roster as a clown for Cirque du Soleil.

Christoph Jungmann is an improviser and artistic director of IMPRO, the annual festival for improvised theater, organized by Die Gorillas. He can be seen at the Mehringhoftheater and the Theater am Kurfürstedamm as Angela Merkel, when he is MCing the famous Jahresrückblick. He also works as a film and television actor.

Amy Jane is a New Zealand-born, Berlin-based actor and improviser. She featured on the Kiwi TV show So You Think You’re Funny and has performed on stage at Comedy Café Berlin, BühnenRausch and English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center.

The Weird Show

The Weird Show is Berlin’s first and only eponymously titled English-language sketch comedy group and show. Or is it show… and group? Since 2016, they have been gracing the stages of Berlin and entertaining young, old and middle-aged alike with a rotating crew of writers and performers who have trained at UCB, Second City, Hive Improv and in at least two Berlin kitchens.

With 100% original, handwritten material and 63% jokes they stole from their parents, the latest The Weird Show performance integrates multimedia, music, dance and more than one scene set in a restaurant. After numerous appearances around Berlin, they will be bringing their weird show to the ETB | IPAC stage.

Mark your calendars and secure a ticket because you’re not going to want to miss a Tremendous Future to Believe In We’re Better Together Make It Great Again Big Moment for Us All.

Improv Comedy Showcase

Hosted by GLB (formerly known as Good Luck, Barbara), featuring Berlin’s favorite improv comedy teams and presenting the very best of English-language improv in the German capital.

Rollercoasters is Berlin’s first and only musical improv group. Formed in 2017, the international cast has played a number of sold-out shows at venues across Berlin. Inspired by an audience suggestion, they create a full-length narrative musical replete with improvised songs, masterful acting and top-class comedy.

Cat Video is a German-Australian improv comedy duo. Their style might best be described as grounded insanity. They enjoy a slow burn just as much as a quick laugh. Peter and Jakob combine depth and hilarity in their characters to create wonderfully strange moments out of thin air.

Merciless

Johnny Armstrong is a quick-fire one-liner comedian from England’s deep, dark North.

He is known for his unique brand of black humor delivered with a hefty portion of self-deprecation. A veteran of the London comedy circuit, he has taken Germany by storm with TV appearances and sold-out shows across the mainland. Many say that he has internalized the Monty Pythons, but it looks more like he’s eaten them.

Johnny has made quite a name for himself performing in German and we’re very excited to be able to present him performing in his native English!

Test your German and check out Johnny performing Ein dicker Hipster in Stuttgart:
