Amy Bloom is author of two novels, three collections of short stories, and a nominee for both the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her most recent novel, Away, was an epic story about a Russian immigrant. Her recent collection of short stories, Where the God of Love Hangs Out, came out in January 2010. She lives in Connecticut and taught at Yale University for the last decade. She is now Wesleyan University’s Distinguished University Writer in Residence.

Mit zwölf wird Eva kurzerhand vor der Tür ihres Vaters abgesetzt und lebt von da an mit ihrer Halbschwester Iris unter einem Dach. Iris weiß genau, was sie will: Filmstar werden in Hollywood. Tatsächlich erreicht sie ihr Ziel, doch ihr Stern sinkt so schnell wie er aufgestiegen ist. Also gehen die Schwestern nach New York. Iris schauspielert auf zweifelhaften Bühnen, pflegt verbotene Liebeleien und setzt gnadenlos ihre eigenen Interessen durch, während Eva den Alltag organisiert.
Wir Glücklichen erzählt von großen Träumen, Niederlagen und unvergesslichen Charakteren im Amerika der vierziger Jahre.
Amy Bloom, hat bereits mehrere Romane und Erzählungen veröffentlicht. Ihr Erzählungsband Liebe ist ein seltsames Kind (1995) wurde für den National Book Award nominiert. Mit Die unglaubliche Reise der Lillian Leyb eroberte sie die amerikanischen Bestsellerlisten.
