BERLIN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE CLASSES

For advanced English speakers ages 10 to 14

Fridays 15.45-17.45

The main focus of these workshops is discovering the magic of theatre. How does it happen? Where does it come from? This process involves stretching and strengthening the basic actors tools which you already possess - your imagination, body and voice.

The first part of the workshop consists of fun relaxing theatre games to free the imagination, make us feel comfortable in the group, and inspire self-confidence. The second part of the session is based on scene building exercises, and improvisations which include working with text, (memorization, interpretation, as well as the creating of original text).

In this class we will not spend time on creating a new play, instead we will focus on learning  various acting skills and ensemble technique.
There will be a private performance for an invited audience at the end of the semester in June. After 6 months in this class, students will have the possibility to audition for the BIYT Ensemble.

Price: First session for new students is free. This is to give the student the opportunity to decide if they would like to continue. After that monthly payments of 45€ will follow. Additional family members pay 35€.

BERLIN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE ENSEMBLE

This a group of 16 experienced young actors ages 12-18 who have already completed the BIYT classes and are acquainted with ensemble technique. Throughout the school year they work on devising an entirely original full length play which is presented in the main theatre to the general public. Rehearsals are every Saturday and are generally held during school holidays as well. BIYT holds auditions twice a year. For more information please contact Priscilla Bergey.

BIYT´s first full-length theatre production, "Tale of the Rebel Waves", was performed at English Theatre Berlin in June 2010.

The second show was"Blood of the Butterfly"- A science fiction fantasy where 3 separate civilizations become entangled in a web of greed... - presented at ETB in June 2011 and again in December 2011.
