English Theatre Berlin is the center of English-language theatre in the German capital, presenting a wide spectrum of shows.  From plays to readings to performance art, both classic and contemporary, our aim is to reflect the development and tendencies of international theatre.  When you visit us, you are guaranteed to be confronted with artistic concepts of the highest niveau.

This year marks our twentieth anniversary.  Over the years, we are proud to have produced over 50 plays in-house, hosted more than 70 visiting companies and co-operated on numerous productions with Berlin-based expatriates. We have been invited to partake in numerous Berlin-based arts and theatre festivals, such as the Berliner Festwochen, the BeckettinBerlin2000 Festival and the International Berlin Improv Theatre Festival.  It has been an exciting two decades, to say the least, and we are looking forward to seeing you soon for more boundary-pushing, thought-provoking theatre.

English Theatre Berlin was founded in 1990 under the name Friends of Italian Opera. The development from a multi-lingual space to Berlin’s only English-language theatre venue in 1993 was warmly accepted by the public and supported by the city of Berlin, who continues to support.

In addition to the support from the city of Berlin, ETB has built up very cooperative relationships with various English-speaking cultural and educational institutions in Germany, including the British Council, the American embassy and the Irish Arts Council.

ENGLISH THEATRE BERLIN

ENGLISH THEATRE BERLIN
