IMPROVISATION: KEITH JOHNSTONE (Calgary, Canada)20 – 23 September 2010For actors, directors, theatre pedagogues and for everybody interested in theatre games. From 1956 to 1966, Keith Johnstone was Associate Director at the Royal Court Theatre, London. Under Johnstone´s direction the famous RCT author´s studio was created. Writers like John Arden, Wole Soyinka, Arnold Wesker and Edward Bond were amongst its members. In 1971 he moved to Canada to teach at Calgary University. There he founded the ‘Loose Moose Theatre’ and became its artistic director. He is the author of ‘IMPRO’ (Methuen), one of the best-selling books on improvisation, and ‘Impro For Storytellers’ (Faber and Faber). THE ART OF ACTING: SUSAN BATSON (New York, USA)28 – 31 December 2010For actors from theatre, film and TV and for all theatre and film makers. Susan Batson worked as actress, stage manager, casting director, producer and personal coach of Juliette Binoche, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and others. Susan Batson had her first big success in the musical ‘Hair’ at the end of the sixties, followed by many Broadway Shows, films, television and theatre, where she acted with partners like Paul Newman and Sophia Loren. Susan Batson is author of the acting book Truth: Personas, Needs, and Flaws in the Art of Building Actors and Creating Characters (Kidman wrote the foreword). ACTING CLASSES with Amy BensonNew York actress Amy Lerner is teaching a weekly all-level acting class in Berlin. The class includes monologue and scene work in addition to confidence building exercises that will not only carry into your acting work but your life as well. 30€ for 5 classes, 10€ for a drop in session. Private Coaching is also available at 20€ per hour. Classes will be every Wednesday from 6:30-9:00 at the Theaterhaus Mitte, Wallstraße 32, Haus C. She received her acting training from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning a B.F.A. in Theatre. In Germany, she has performed at the English Theatre Berlin in “Prophecy of a Nameless Eskimo," and is currently performing with the Comedysportz English Improv group.
The following workshop is also being offered according to requests: Ensemble Chorale Speakingwith Kristi Hughes and Tatjana BoguczAfter graduating from Ecole Internationale de Théatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris , Kristi Hughes co-founded the international theatre company Attic People with Tatjana Bogucz. Attic People won Best Physical Theatre and Best Total Ensemble awards for their devised piece Drip at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They have taught Lecoq-based workshops all over Europe and in the U.S.
